Langworthy to hold telephone Town Hall on Thursday... but, still says no to in-person Town Halls...
There have been countless requests from residents of New York's 23rd Congressional District to have their representative hold an in-person town hall meeting. But... don't expect to see one happen anytime soon. Local Congressman Nick Langworthy says the in-person town halls that have been taking place across the country since the beginning of President Donald Trump's second term, have been "political theater" where a group rallies several people to create chaos and shouting matches at these events. One example Langworthy provided was a meeting that took place in his district in March. He says the event in Hamburg was organized by a movement known as "Indivisible..." which he says is backed by Billionaire businessman, liberal activist and philanthropist George Soros. Langworthy also says it's "virtually impossible" for him to have an "appropriate" series of in-town halls due to the district being spread across nine counties... and, given the amount of time he spends in Washington. He says that's wound up being more than he would like... and, says that's why he holds "telephone town halls" once a month. The next one is Thurs., April 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Borrello says legislature approves seventh-budget extender...
A seventh extender is needed to keep New York State's government running as the state budget for the new fiscal year is now three weeks late. However... a local state lawmaker has been told that a deal has been made on Gov. Kathy Hochul's proposed discovery law changes, which has been one of the big roadblocks in negotiations. Senator George Borrello, who has been supportive of those changes, cited the results of a Siena College poll released Tuesday morning, which finds that a plurality of New Yorkers support her push to restore more public safety. Meanwhile... he says there are still disagreements over a number of other issues, including a new proposal by Hochul to lower the minimum age of state corrections officers from 21 to 18 after the firing of 2,000 corrections officers who participated in the 22-day prison strikes. Borrello says that "last-minute" request by Hochul is a move he does not support... because there are already 19 year-olds in the prisons acting as corrections officers. The Sunset Bay Republican adds that state lawmakers having to make repeated trips to Albany during this extended budget process is a "tremendous" cost to taxpayers. The new spending plan was due on April 1.
